The Amazing Autumn Coffee Swap. You can find it here http://coffeenyarnswap.blogspot.com/ and it says

"....and for those who wish to share that info on your blog, post a comment here and there'll be a drawing for a pound of coffee and some yarn goodies after registration closes!" So check it out. This swap isn't open until Oct 1.

I am also joining my first raverly swap. It is called Coffee and Yarn Swap. Here is what it says.

Who doesn’t love coffee and chocolate? Why not combine the two? Lets swap a pound of good coffee and some good quality chocolate. We will also be swapping a skein of yarn and a pattern. Various other goodies to include might be a coffee mug, stitch markers etc. Total cost of swap package a minimum of $35.00 which does not include shipping. Delivery confirmation is required. Please do not sign up if you are on the naughty swappers list! Sign ups will go until September 22nd. You will have until October 30th to ship your package. This is an International swap."

So if this swap interests you and you belong to ravelry check it out.

I just need to fill in the questionnaire on ravelry.

YUP I can use some new bold coffee for my mornings.

Actually, I emailed my girlfriend and told her I am still interested in getting a toddy maker and could she check into it for me. They are available on amazon.com but they won't send "things" here to Canada and it isn't available at amazon.ca. What is a toddy maker you ask? Here is what amazon says

"The Toddy Maker is a simple device that uses cold water and a carefully designed filter system to produce an exceptionally pure coffee concentrate from ground coffee. The advantages of coffee brewed with the Toddy Maker make it a popular choice among both individuals and the food service industry. Cold water brewing extracts the desirable flavor elements, but eliminates many of the undesirable oils and acids found in hot brewed coffee that are not soluble at low temperatures. Cold brewed coffee tastes smoother and is easier on the stomach. Toddy coffee has been recommended by doctors to their patients who are sensitive to the acid in hot brewed coffee. The original Toddy Maker consists of a plastic brewing container with a plug and filter at the bottom. One pound of regular grind coffee and nine cups of cold water are added and allowed to steep for eight to twelve hours. The plug is then removed and the resulting concentrate is allowed to drain through the filter into a glass carafe which is also provided. The grounds are then disposed of (they make good compost) and the filter rinsed thoroughly. The concentrate must be refrigerated. To make a cup of hot coffee simply mix one part concentrate with three parts water and heat in the microwave. To make iced coffee mix one part concentrate with three parts water and serve over ice. The concentrate is good for about three weeks in the refrigerator, and can be frozen for several months "

I am always interested in new kitchen toys. The reason I asked my girlfriend is because she has one and introduced me to it.

Secret Pal Question of the Week #11

What is the best thing you've ever received in the mail/post?

It usually is my latest swap package or what I order from Knit Picks or Elann or or or or but I have to admit that it is going to be hard to top the Tilli Thomas yarn I received in my SP 12 package #2. I am sorry everyone but that really was a super special gift.

Secret Pal Question of the Week #12

I’m sure most of us have a proudest moment when it comes to knitting. A project or technique that you’ve tackled and completed beautifully. What is your proudest knitting moment??

My proudest is when I finish an item and it has a truly nice finished appearance. I am hoping I will be able one day to say I have conquered chart reading and feel comfortable with it.

And on the flip side? What is the one thing that you can’t get right? What is that one project that you’ve never been able to complete? Or that you did complete but then hid away instantly because it was too embarrassing?

Again it is the finishing techniques that I need help with. I can't seem to use a drop spindle. I just seem so uncoordinated. At least without an actual spinning wheel if I could use a drop spindle I might be able to make yarn. My dyeing technique really is lacking. What I dye looks so poor in comparison to others. It is so different and just NOT as nice.

Knitters Scavenger Hunt Swap

Well it seems this swap was a DUD for me as I never received anything including an angel package if one was ever sent out. In fact, I haven't even heard from the hostess of this group.

Monkey Swap

There was talk of a Monkey Swap 5 in the fall but so far I haven't seen anything about it.

Cocoa Swap 2

Again there was talk of a second cocoa swap. I didn't join the first but would have liked to join the second.

Knitters Tea Swap 5

This was put on hold until the fall so it may happen yet.

The Odd Duck Swap

I haven't joined anything here but maybe one day. You can find it here.http://oddduckblog.wordpress.com/. I first discovered it on ravelry.

I just have to say I LOVE my toddy maker and miss it dearly. Just a few more weeks before I start it up again after the baby is born!

I bought mine at Seattle's Best but got replacement filters/stoppers from toddyproducts.com - they ship to Canada but it looks like they're temporarily closed due to Ike...
