Winter Wonderland Coffee Swap Weekly Topic #2

Here are my answers to the Winter Wonderland Weekly Topic #2

As the cold of winter approaches, do you change the projects you work on? Do you work on gifts for others or do you continue working on projects for yourself?

I don't change the projects I do based on the weather or season. I just continue to knit what catches my fancy and what is on my to do list. Of course, socks is always on my list.

I make very few gifts for friends now. This is b/c of the response I have received after previously making gifts for them. When the items I carefully choose and make don't get used for one reason or another I decided it isn't worth doing it anymore. I still have a few friends I will knit or craft something for. When I make gifts for those friends that I do, I don't just make them for the holidays. Thus, I first mainly make items for myself, secondly for others in swaps in hopes that they like what I have done and appreciate it and third for those few friends who appreciate hand crafted gifts. I have no family to knit or craft for.

Saw your comment on the Monkey swap - I've been stiffed my the third swap partner - I know I've not done anything wrong because I've talked to all three swap hostesses - Sockapalooza - Coffee Swap and Monkey and I just can't believe that people don't honor their commitments - you would not believe all the money and postage plus time spent knitting really good socks for others with no results - I'm tired of getting the empty bag - I wish there was punishment but there isn't except to not be part of the next swap - I wish there was a place where we could post these people's names because I know who they are and where they are from but they should have to finish their commitment or at least provide materials so we could knit our own socks but to not even apologize while at the same time on their own blogs they are talking about what else they are knitting and what wonderful swap packages they received - a word to the wise - beware!!!!!

There is a yahoo group for people that get banned from swaps as I joined it when I hosted a swap. there may even be more than one group. I haven't seen anything new in this group for a very long time. If no one puts any names down of bad players then swap organizers have nothing to check against. Was it the same girl inall three swap or more than one who stiffed you? These people should not be allowed to join swaps anymore if they only join to take. Maybe you could tell the hostess when you join the names of the people you know who don't play nice and you don't want them for a partner.
If you want to do a swap with me later in the new year let me know and we can get together and do one for each other. I hate to see someone myself included miss out on the fun.
